Get the prenuptial agreement handled early in the engagement

On Behalf of | Oct 13, 2017 | Uncategorized

As we recently discussed, there are many things for you to consider when you are creating a prenuptial agreement. You and your future spouse have to be sure that the terms of the agreement are fair for both parties. This is something that is better done now rather than later because if it isn’t fair, it might be tossed out if you ever have to use it.

We understand that this is something that isn’t pleasant to think about while you are planning your wedding. Because the agreement can’t be signed under duress, it might behoove you to get this taken care of soon after the engagement so that you don’t have to worry about it again.

Remember that you and your future spouse need time to review the terms and negotiate any changes that might be necessary. You should each have your own representation to ensure that you are getting the protections you need from the agreement.

You might think that it is odd to think about the marriage ending before it begins; however, one of the main benefits of a prenup is that it can make your relationship more stable. You and your spouse will both know what to expect during the marriage so you can focus on keeping things moving forward.

We realize that you might have some questions right now. We can help you answer those and work on coming up with a prenup based on the goals you have for the agreement. This is the first step of making sure that you are protecting yourself and your future spouse.
